The old adage "it never hurts to ask" applies to your credit card, too.
Card issuers are amenable to lowering interest rates, waiving late or annual fees and raising credit limits for customers, according to a new report from creditcards.com.
The report is based on a survey of 952 cardholders. It found that about eight out of every 10 who made any of those requests were successful.
"People have far more power with their credit card company than they realize," Matt Schulz, creditcards.com's senior industry analyst, said in a news release Monday. "Competition among card issuers is incredibly high these days and customer retention is a priority. Don't be afraid to ask for fees to be waived or higher credit limits because, quite often, you'll actually get it."
