Pay Up or Move Out: City of Bangor Will Foreclose for Unpaid Utilities

Dec, 15th 2016

As of tomorrow , The City of Bangor will be mailing 600 foreclosure notices for unpaid utilities to property owners.

"I know in total between taxes, storm water and sewer - we are looking about 419,000 that includes principle, interest and all liens fees," said David Little, a tax collector for the city, "That's the combination of the three together."

This will be the first time since 2011 that the city is issuing notices to property owners who owe money for their 2014 sewer, storm water and 2015 real estate tax accounts.

"It might be a little higher than normal because people might have not have assumed that we would continue with the liens process. This might be the first notice that some people are getting regarding that and we are hoping they are going to take it seriously," said Little.
