Woman Sues Debt Collector Over Credit Misrepresentations

A woman is suing debt collector Ability Recovery Services LLC and employee Jim Evans, alleging misrepresentation in debt collection and negligent misrepresentation.

Michelle L. Kurosz filed a complaint on Sept. 1 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against the defendants alleging that they reported inaccurate and false credit information regarding her credit history.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in 2016, she has suffered significant damages to her credit score. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible for allegedly refusing to correct inaccuracies in her credit score.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks actual damages, statutory damages, punitive damages, an order for the defendant to permanently delete all inaccurate information from her credit report,...
